About Me . . .

Here's a little about myself and my music. I'm a 1987 graduate of Virginia Tech with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and recently graduated from ODU with a masters in Engineering Management. I'm nuts about Virginia Tech Hokie sports, especially football. Check out Tech Sideline and Beamerball.com , great web-sites maintained by my good friends from my Blacksburg days, Will Stewart and James Arthur, respectively. I also had the pleasure of playing block parties there with a band called Fighting Gravity. Two of the original members are still remaining (the two Dave's) and they have since had a huge article in Rolling Stone and been signed to a major label recording contract. Go Hokies!

I'm currently playing guitar, keyboards and singing with southeastern Virginia band New Direction and in small acoustic groups. My previous band, Island Boy was co-founded by some ex-members of Aces Up after singer/songwriter Andy Hengel left the band. Back in the Aces Up days, the guys got a back stage pass to see Jimmy Buffet & Little Feat at the College of William and Mary where they got to meet the stars. They passed a recent cassette they had out to Buffet's management and soon found themselves making a yearly trek to his Margaritaville Cafe in Key West. It's a helluva working vacation!

A few years back, while playing in a Virginia Beach club, the Baja, it was rumored that a celebrity was renting a cottage up the street and had been coming by the bar occasionally during the week. At the end of the night, our smooth-talking drummer had Dave Matthews on stage with us singing his hit, What Would You Say. While I was in Island Boy, we opened for Little River Band and Average White Band.

I've released two solo CDs, as mentioned above, and did most of the recording in my home studio with various bands. If any of you out there are contemplating doing a CD, I highly recommend using Discmakers of Pennsauken, NJ for your design and manufacturing. They are a full-service top-quality outfit. Just send them a DAT, CDR or other format recording with some liner notes and suggested art work or photos. They do all the graphic design and deliver a major-label quality, ready-for-retail, barcoded product.
